Even though it sounds very harsh and judgemental, the reality is that there are just sometimes when you are going to need to check into the background of people that you do not know very well, in order to avoid serious issues. I had gotten involved with someone who I considered a very good friend- that is until they robbed me! I later found out through the free public records access system on the net, that this person was adept at making new friends and then stealing from them. They had a record a mile long, and I wish I had known this sooner.
